Big thank you to Billy for sending pictures of his

superb collection. He says would have liked to been

in the pictures but it hard to take them restrained!

The 'Blankets' look to be all made by Posey. Can anyone

confirm this? Anyone been to Floor 5?(See No.5)

The above pictures are compressed to give quicker downloads. If you require higher definition copies for projects, books etc please e-mail us.

Background information from Billy
Sheet #1 is a sheet that I won at auction and I'm  sure that it is quite old. The buckles on the wrist,  forearm and the 3 straps that are under the sheet, have what I would consider a fairly dangerous part on them as you see in the pics. The 3 prongs are real sharp. The nurse or patient could be fairly easy injured!  Comfort? Not that bad (45 min.) and in my opinion it is fairly secure. I struggled against it for about 10 minuets and the effort didn't reward me with much slack . There are no modifications that I can see, it all looks original . There is no ID anywhere on it. (Ed Buckles looks like Posey to me?)  The age? I would guess over 40 years old. The person that I got it from said they worked at a  hospital for 15 years. They were told the sheet and other restraints that were going to be thrown away were over10 years old  and out dated (Ed CRIMINAL!!!). The material is about the same thickness as what Posey sj is made of.

Sheet #2 this one has no ID tags and is real thick, heavy and stiff. It is not as uncomfortable as it looks , it has no straps or cuffs  underneath it ,so your legs can move freely and you can't make it real tight. It has one adjustment . I fell asleep in it for about 2 and a half hours (didn't hurt to bad) but since it has only wrist cuffs ( nice and soft ) as you can see in the pictures. You can pick at the buckle and get out, but a set of mitts fixes that problem! I will say this sheet is quite old to 40 + years .It has a rope sewn into the outside edge ,( old time technology) I don't see any modifications on it. I won this at auction also, I have no further history on this one.

Sheet  #3  This is a Posey (Ed Mod 8115? See lower for instruction sheet) I won at auction a few week ago. The history on this one is it was a discard from a fire and rescue department, in a small town, and the guy I bought it from took it home and put it on eBay just to see if it would sell or not . He said he was very surprised at what it brought and said he wished that he would have took all of the other restraints that were thrown away. (I wonder what they are) (Ed And me!!!) Anyway it is about 10 years old and is the standard  Posey design for a restraint sheet , however, I never knew Posey used a sail cloth type material, nice and light. There no modifications, all standard and the security is great, no way out, if it is applied fairly tight. As you can see in the pictures,  you can't reach the buckle, but if the strap that attachés it to the bed frame is not tight you can reach over to your other  hand and push on the buckle and get it loose. Then again, if you have double padded mitts on you are not going anywhere! The overall comfort is not to bad. The only thing I don't like is the strap that is around the the legs above the knees, it kind of digs at the back of your legs. They should have used the same material as on their cuffs to make it more comfortable.  I struggled against it for 20 minutes off and on and got nowhere, spent about one hour in it, its not that bad at all.

Maker not known. Note eyelets to close the neck opening and what looks like straps that pass under the bed to connect to the other side of the blanket. Both of these features cause concern regarding the safely of a struggling occupant.

A very much modified Posey Bed Net. A complete set of body restraints has been added ie upper thigh, waist, chest, shoulders, crotch and we suspect an extension panel has been added to allow for the ankle restraint.  On the surface an extra pair of cuffs and securing strap has been added at the forearm. Click HERE to see a standard Posey 8115-Note the length.

The Argentino Suit was developed to provide more comfort and versatility than restraint blankets.
Used in Psychiatric wards, Emergency Units, Prisons, Detention Facilities, and Long Term Care Facilities.
COMFORT - Argentino Suits permit a face up or face down position on a bed. Actual use has shown that patients tend to fall asleep in the suit. In addition, the suit provides generous limb movement and good blood circulation.
SAFETY - Almost any area of the body can be rapidly accessed by undoing one of the zippers. Limbs can be released one at a time for exercise, in case of emergency, the four quick release buckles and zippers can be accessed very rapidly.
QUALITY - Made from the highest quality materials, hypoallergenic 100% meshed nylon, 4 safety lock zippers, 4 nylon straps with 4 safety buckles ( No keys or magnets ). Has been shown to withstand frequent and intense use over several years.
Thank you Billy for sending these pictures and good luck with your purchase!
