Master Lock Street Cuffs

The design is based on Standard issue Police HAND CUFFS. Built with two locking cuffs of adjustable diameter and a ratchet locking mechanism which allows for a snug fit around any size bike tube, plus lets you connect to fixed objects with a variety of shapes.
Handcuffs, but for your bike. The cost is circa £60 (B&Q) in the UK for the model 8200. The makers say these cuffs are virtually impossible to cut because they fit snugly, leaving no room for pry bars. (See lower down for an independent test report.)
A 10 pin tubular cylinder is fitted.
The link that connects the two cuffs in the Model 8200 (shown left) has a pivoting action that should prevent the use of levers to crack them apart.
The 'cuffs' fold in half to store and a carrying bracket for a bike is sold separately.

General Features:

•Compact and lightweight. Will fit into cargo areas
•3 inch cuffs fit fork legs or frames and can be secured to sign posts, parking meters or even another bike
•Pushbutton keyless locking
•Heat treated patented lock core is virtually pick proof
•Pivoting action combined with varying connecting chain (check model number) length provides lockdown versatility
•Hardened chrome plated steel resists cutting or prying
•Fold in half for convenient storage
•Durable ABS bumper prevents scratching

ON TEST

The British Consumer Magazine WHICH? (May 04) stating that the Model 8200 were a good head turning design (true) and resistant to picking but they found them to be susceptible to more serious attack. They went on to say how six samples only stood up to most tools for a few minutes. A seventh sample lasted three minutes before giving in. They found the steel to be over hardened meaning they would snap easily. On a good not they survived the corrosion and drop tests with flying colours. The makers are offering a free exchange to anyone who has purchased one in the UK - 01638 668245 for details.

Would be buy a pair ...............................   they do look good, but no, probably not. There are better bits of kit around.
